Cape Lookout State Park

Cape Lookout is a beautiful and popular Oregon State Park, located between Netarts Bay and the Pacific Ocean, which includes features like Campground and Day-use area with easy beach access.

Cape Lookout State Park

We were finally coming back to our loved Oregon Coast, and this time to one of our favorite places, Cape Lookout State Park.

Above all, this place is so special to us. We’ve many good memories, including walking on the beach with my sister and my nephew visiting us from Argentina. That day my nephew saw the ocean for the first time in his life.

Additionally, the beach and the views are gorgeous!

What to see and do

Cape Lookout State Park is well known for its Campground and the Day-use area with easy beach access. And based on those features, activities like camping and beachcombing are very popular here.

The beach is massive, and the views spectacular. This State Park is an excellent destination for having a great and peaceful day, walking or running in the sand, and even swimming or surfing if you are brave enough for the Pacific Ocean temperatures. Actually, on our last visit, we swam a little, since the day was sunny and warm.

If you love hiking like us, you can find about eight miles of walking and hiking trails. We didn’t explore all of them, but we walked part of the north trail, and it’s breathtaking. It’s a magical forest of old-growth fir, spruce, and hemlock trees. The last part of the path is a very famous spot for whale watching.

Another key feature to mention is the picnic areas. There are some good ones in the Day-use area, with terrific views, under majestic trees, with grills and picnic tables. Also, there is a group picnic shelter you can book for events or parties.

Without a doubt, this Park has everything you need to enjoy a great adventure with your loved ones. Its beauty and amenities are keeping us coming again.

Finally, if you plan to visit more Oregon State Parks, you will find some ideas here.
