Swan Island Dahlias Farm

It’s Dahlia season, and that means you can visit these gorgeous 40 acres fields full of colors at Swan Island Dahlias Farm!

This visit was our first one to Swan Island Dahlias Farm but certainly not the last one. I don’t understand why I miss this piece of Heaven in the past summers.

If you love flowers or need an uplifting quick day trip destination, by all means, don’t miss the opportunity to see this place. We loved it!

What to see and do

Swan Island Dahlias Farm is located in the picturesque Canby, Oregon, part of the beautiful and indeed fertile Willamette Valley.

This farm has been operating for more than 93 years and offers about 370 varieties of beautiful dahlias.

From August to September (and eventually, into October is the weather allows it), you can stroll through almost 40 acres of beautiful dahlias, for photos opportunity, choosing the variety of flowers you want to buy or feeling happy among that beauty.

Another feature that particularly my daughter loved was the koi pond that is next to the adorable gift shop (Open year-round).

You can also find picnic tables and shaded areas for having something to eat or taking a break and appreciate the surrounded colors.

In addition to the open fields, every year, they held the Dahlia Festival with fun activities and live music (the largest dahlia festival in the United States).

In case you want to add more adventures to your day trip, you can visit other farms and wineries in the area, as well as the lovely Molalla River State Park just minutes away from it.

• Open August through September (Fields, Gift Shop, and Office)
  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9 am to 6 pm.
  • Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 5pm.
  • Closed Wednesdays in August & September for field maintenance.
  • The rest of the year, Gift Shop & Office are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
• Dogs are allowed but on a leash.
• Bring enough water for a walk in the field during hot weather.
• Some sections can be a little bit wet or muddy when they are irrigating the fields (wear proper shoes or expect a little mud on them). My daughter loved playing with sprinklers!
