First of all, I cannot believe I’ve never visited Lewisville Regional Park with my kids before, given that it’s a beautiful family-friendly destination with a river and, most importantly, close to Portland; what else we could ask.

What to see and do

Lewisville Regional Park is a 159-acre park surrounded mostly by forest and meadows, along the beautiful and clear East Fork Lewis River. For that reason and its infrastructure, it’s a popular place for families, year-round but especially during summer.

For instance, some of the amenities this regional park offers are picnic shelters, barbecue grills, and picnic tables, playground sets, boat lunch, parking spaces, sports fields, several accesses to the river, and more.

Basically, provided all that infrastructure mentioned above, you could guess that your picnic or outdoor event will be a success in this park!

Additionally, a 3-mile trail system is available for hiking, walking your dog, biking, or running.

However, for those wanting to expend a lazy day at the river swimming or floating, this place is for you too (this was our case, by the way).

When you pay the fee at the entrance and receive a map of the park, you will drive and find the signs of every river access to pick your favorite.

To summarize, this place is ideal for a day full of outdoor activities. We particularly loved it, and it’s part of our favorite places to go in Summer and why not year-round.

Important information and tips

  • Location: 26411 NE Lewisville Hwy, Battle Ground, WA 98604.
  • Always check the official web site for updates or alerts before visiting.
  • Open daily from 7 a.m. to dusk.
  • Swimming is allowed at the park, but there are no lifeguards on duty. Although we found the river very calm (and not cold!) and even with some excellent not deep pools ideal for small kids, the river can have swift currents, and deep can vary. Some vests were available at the park.
  • There are parking fees, however, not entrance fees. ($2 for motorcycles, $3 for cars, $6 for vehicles with trailers, $8 for buses or motor homes)
  • For reservations and annual pass, visit this web page.
  • The river and the beaches are rocky, so it’s a good idea to bring water shoes and some sandals.
