Berry picking at Bella Organic Farm

It’s berry picking season in Oregon! We visited the beautiful Sauvie Island in the city of Portland, and particularly this time, the Bella Organic Farm.

My kids love going to the farms! And luckily for us, we have so many beautiful ones not so far from home.

Typically from June through September is Oregon’s berry harvest season (it depends on the variety and the weather each season), so we decided to visit the area of Sauvie Island where you can find great farms for berry picking activities.

What to see and do

This trip was our first-time visit to Bella Organic Farm for berry picking. However, we’ve been in different locations at Sauvie Island, including other farms.

Just driving in that area is so peaceful that worth the trip. I love to drive in those country roads with amazing views of the fields and old barns everywhere.

Close to the beginning of summer, I promised my kids a trip to a farm. I was waiting for the right weather, but the rain didn’t stop for several weeks; therefore, I decided to go with them anyways. And I’m glad we went.

It was raining when we arrived at the farm; however, that didn’t stop us from enjoying our afternoon there.

In terms of activities to do at the farm, maybe this season is a little bit different from all the rules of social distancing. On the other hand, we feel so safe at the farm, and it was easy for us to follow the guidelines that included wearing masks all the time and globes in the fields.

Before going to the U-Pick fields, we entered the Store to pay the entry fee that includes globes for everyone. In that place, you will find a variety of farm products as well as a map of the fields. They helped us to know where to go to get the best berries. In our case, we wanted strawberries.

Picking berries with rain was so much fun. We finished with muddy shoes but with yummy strawberries, perfect for some homemade muffins.
