Salmon Creek Trail and Park

Located in Northern Vancouver, Washington, Salmon Creek Trail and Park is a fantastic destination for a quick escape into Nature.

Salmon Creek Regional Park

Another urban gem! We loved Salmon Creek Trail! You won’t believe you are right in the city; the ponds, the trees, wildlife, wildflowers, and the creek make you feel you are exploring remotely.

We came back from this hike with our hearts and souls full of energy. As animal lovers, this day was a gift for us.

What to see and do

Another local hike! Located in Northern Vancouver, WA, it is just 35 minutes from our home.

Undoubtedly Salmon Creek Park is a favorite family destination because of its beauty and all outdoor activities options that offer. It combines the facilities of Klineline ponds with the hike in the greenway trail.

And talking about activities, just to mention some examples of what you can do in the park running, walking, biking, swimming, bird, and wildlife watching are popular there.

Despite the urban setting of Salmon Creek Regional Park, we enjoyed this place as if we were in a remote natural area.

The Hike

That day our hike started after parking at Klineline ponds. We used to swim there a couple of summers ago. It’s a super family-friendly location. It features sandy beaches and a swimming pond with a lifeguard on duty in summer. Additionally, you can find a Splash Pad, restrooms, and picnic tables.

After enjoying a little break at Klineline ponds, we headed out to the trail. This time we tried a new combination in the path; my daughter rode her bike while my son and I walk. It worked perfectly!

At the beginning of the trail you will find the map and the rules to follow.

During our walk, we traveled through different landscapes, bottomlands, wetlands, and forested areas.

And during that trip, we enjoyed fantastic wildlife. To mention some, we saw deers, turtles, ducks, geese, and dozen of different types of birds.

In our case, we only stayed on the main paved trail; however, you can explore the other side of Salmon Creek as well.

Finally, to summarise our experience visiting Salmon Creek Regional Park, I can say that my kids and I couldn’t stop smiling and talking about it in our trip way back home. My son and daughter told me this was another place selected as their all-time favorite.

Lastly, if you love these kinds of places like natural areas, wetlands, wildlife refuges, and preserves, you will enjoy some of these options.

Stay safe and happy hikes!
